I have been playing CM since it 1st came out on the Amiga. Back in my student days over the various versions I played as my club Tottenham found that to easy so played as various lower league club but that only delayed the inevitable of winning everything after promotion year after year. The last couple of version (meaning updates also) of CM, I never bothered with single player and played amongst friend as that was the only challenge. We always picked the worse EPL team as again we did not think the game (AI) was hard enough to stop the inevitable (we never download tactics or use the good player guide).

After the various EP’s of CM4 I find I am the only one amongst my friends who is wiling to give CM4 another chance. But again as the mighty Spurs I win everything after the 1st season. I was about to hang up my boots when I decided to have a peak at the LLM board. I believe this could save CM for me as finances are tight and player movement has been tampered down.

I have turned on all the leagues in Spain as well as Portugal
A self imposed condition is I have to play passing, its matter of principle that me and my friends never play long ball. (this should make it harder for me)

I know we are not allowed to use unrealistic scouting, a question is if I don’t send the rest of my scouts out (ie the rest are set to none) and use only 1 over the same period to scout overseas, is that allowed? The reason for this is that the theoretical expenses incurred by the scout going overseas will be offset by the others not going anywhere.

I will post the results as I go along.

With the link not working I might be getting this LLM thing totally wrong, so someone please point me in the right direction.

Only two minor points, fella. Don't tell us how you play the game, i.e. long, short or direct passing, it gets the regulars snarling and gets new guys telling us the lot.

Scouting is a grey area. There's the SWYCT method - only scouting where the game allows you to tour, the zealots' preferred method, the SYB method - sending scouts to Countries bordering the Nation you're managing in, and the "Be realistic" method - which I think you're heading for, send scouts where you think players may actually sign and that's not going to break your Club's bank by sending them there.

Portugal's always a grey area anyway for SWYCT due to it's strong links and language ties with the ex Colonies in Angola,Mozambique,Cape verde Islands, Macao and Brazil (I probably missed one out, Guinea bissau or something)

In real life portuguese teams even Lower league ones are more likely to have players from these countries than the neighbouring countries like Morrocco.

But you bought the game play it as you want

Good idea to switch a league like Spain on too, widens the player pool. I always do it when managing in smaller leagues, usually onw wiith a link.. England and Scotland Germany and Turkey etc...

Germany and Turkey? I don't get the connection.
In CM4 I can finally turn on Austria and Switzerland when I play in Germany, before that I used to go with Scandinavian countries.

I assume bell refers to the high number of Turkish immigrants (for want of a better word) that settled in Germany, and number of dual Nationality players in German Football (like *delete name*, for instance)

Yup theres a huge Turkish population in Germany and high number of duel-nationals.

The turk's also when Kemal Attaturk took charge in the 1920's modelled there written language on german, hence all the umlauts you see in turkish names.


Germany and croatia is also a good pairing as there is a lot of croats in german football
