on the changelist for beta patch 2 at the bottom where its match engine fixes wat is the v640 and v651 etc etc ?

This is simply the version number of the current match engine.

Each time SI tweak and change the match engine, they change the version number, as is good practice in any software development.

You could ask why they increase the version number of FM (i.e. 8.0.0, 8.0.1) AND the match engine (v640, v651). This is because the match engine is such a large, important section of the game that it warrants it's own version number (this is the short answer. There are lots of fleshed out developmental reasons why the match engine would have it's own number).


SI could update FM, and not the match engine (FM would get new version number, but match engine wouldn't) OR update the match engine, which in turn means FM has also been updated (in this case both FM and the match engine would receive new verison numbers).
