So I've read a number of complaints about how board confidence works, even in the patched version (which I'm playing), but I haven't really had it affect me yet, so I wasn't too bothered. I've mostly seen complaints from people managing Leeds, etc. It occurred to me that it would probably bug me if I ran into it, but I hadn't yet.
So I'm wandering across the lower leagues of Europe, from Turkey, to Portugal, to Ireland, where I end up at the helm of Dundalk United, in the eircom League First Division - that's the second tier. The top team is automatically promoted, and the bottom team of the Premier Division is automatically relegated. The second- and third-placed teams of the First Division play a single-leg semifinal, with the winner matched against the winner of a semifinal between the Premier Division's 2nd bottom and 3rd bottom teams. The winner of this two-leg final gets the second place up for grabs in the Premier Division.
I was hired on immediately after Dundalk were dumped out at the semi-final stage, after finishing second in the league. For the two-year plan, the board's goal was to win the First Division. The season goal was also to win the First Division. (As an aside, I'm not sure how that makes sense.) Anyway, to make a long story slightly shorter, I end up finishing second in the league, and then smashing the 3rd-place team 7-0 away in the semifinal. My board confidence immediately prior to the final is "disappointed." They are, in fact, "deeply saddened" by our performance in the league. What's worse, though, is that one of my players has decided that he will "strive to help the team improve its league position" and, more importantly, that he has "LOST CONFIDENCE IN HIS MANAGER'S ABILITIES"!
That's right, folks... points off of first place, coming off a 7-0 win and going into the most important match of the season, one of my players has lost confidence in my abilities. At least it's only one.
Anyway, I guess my question is whether these minor board confidence issues will be tweaked in the final patch?
You're not the only person this has happened to post updated Beta. It's meant to be better but obviously still sin't right yet. I guess that's why it's a Beta.
The Beta patch hasn't cured the confidence and expectations bug. My board (At Leeds) have changed their minds mid season. They expected a mid table finish in my first season in The Championship after promotion. But now in September (i am 8th in the table, 4pts off 2nd) they are "disturbed by my terrible performance in the league". They changed from mid table to win promotion during September.
The board confidence is probably the single biggest problem i have with this game.
A lot of the other bugs (i.e. the much vaunted closing down bug) have work arounds but there is not a thing you can do when the board behave like a bunch of drunken louts and lose all grasp on reality.
I'd rather SI had improved the existing features of FM07 than create a half baked new feature such as this.
As it stands i'm only using the game for some tactic developing and a game against my mate (which will only last for a season or 2), it's not in a fit state to use for any sort of career game.
