I have this GK that none of my staff rate. One of my scout gives him 3 stars in potential, and everyone else gives him 2 stars. None of them rate his current ability (they all show 8 grey stars).
I think his stats are fantastic, but am worried about playing him in the Prem. Thoughts?
I would say that they are looking at his mental & physical attributes when making this decision.
GK stats wise he has good aerial ability, handling, kicking, one on one, reflexes, rushing out & throwing. Hes brave and makes good decisions but the rest of his mental/physical sats are average. I would either give him a go or keep him as your reserve gk and train him up. Maybe send him on loan so he gets 1st team unless your other goalie isnt as good?
He looks decent, but I would say his command of area, jumping and positioning are a bit low, even for a 21 year old and his concentration, anticipation, agility and balance are far too low and are unlikely to improve enough for him to be considered a top GK.
Technical stats are important, but don't ignore the mental and physical side, they can be equally important.
I had it the other way my assman kept trying to persuade me that a 17 year old keeper with 37CA and 68PA should be my first choice over Craig Gordon was a bit strange as every U18 game this lad played in we lost by a very high amount lol.
Top class key goalkeeping stats
Poor physical abilities, low concentration and average positioning.
Pretty typical regen keeper...
Realistically, he'll probably do a pretty decent job but be unreliable. I suspect that one of the key keeper stats is the hidden consistency stat (arguably the most important factor for goalkeepers IRL) and that your player has a low consistency, dragging his CA down considerably
