Am I just missing something that I should notice? This has happened before on occasion and just happened again. I'm managing Celtic and am in the thick of the league chase in early January and wanted to bolster my defense and found a great defender that Rangers was actually willing to give up and got the transfer (and contract offer) accepted. Then, excited about the increase in the quality of my back line, I go to look at the player again and see that the transfer will go through on June 25. June 25? It's currently Jan. 10 so I am obviously within the transfer window. Any idea why it's not immediate?
Okay, now I'm confused. I just bid on and and earned the rights to a player who was under contract with Liverpool but had been on loan at Inverness since the beginning of the season - and he is immediately placed on my roster. What's the difference with these two situations?
It might be to do with the terms of the loan deal. I believe that if part of the loan deal is that the club that own the player are unable to recall the player, then the deal will go through at the next oppurtunity after the loan deal finishes.
If this isn't part of the deal, then the player can move immediatley. I'm not 100% sure this is correct, but it at least seems to be the way things happen.

That is what happens in FM but in real life, a player can move in January regardless of whether he has a recall cluase or not. If a club accepts an offer from a club, whether he is at that club on loan or not, and the player accepts a contract, then he moves.

Is there any way for me to check that while I am in the process of buying the player or do I have to just take my chances?

That would make sense. Is there any way for me to check that while I am in the process of buying the player or do I have to just take my chances?
check the transfer date when you go to offer, if theres an option for 'immediately' then u can get him straight away. if you only have next available then you won't
