I'm in the 4th season with Ath. Madrid, and my scouts don't seem to be finding any players with more than 4 stars for PA, I've got full knowledge of brazil, argentina, france, italy etc. but even though I've been sending my scouts out for 3 years none stop they aren't finding any gems.
hows everyone else doing on the regen, scounting front?
That really depends. My scouts keep finding me absolutely awesome regen DCs. 19 Tackling, 18 Marking etc.Brillinat! Right? Except I already have two quality centre backs, and 4 good backups. So I am finding decent regens, just not players i need.
this was an issue with me too. the way i saw it, 3 stars were good enough to convince me to get that player and train/tutor him. i had a regen in my 2nd athletico season, with below average stats, and even though my facilities were average to good, he ended the season with very good attributes and 5 stars for potential.
i think the patch made adjustments to the way scouts judge players, to make them less reliable at estimating a players potential ability.
this is good, as it's far more realistic, but it does have a few drawbacks. rather than estimating a players pa and stating that he'll be a star (6 or 7 stars for potential) scouts seem cagier, and rarely give more than 4 or sometimes 5 stars for potential. i think it's linked to ca, as youngsters who already have a fairly good ca are judged highly, because the game assumes (often correctly) that they'll keep getting better
this is magnified once regens start coming through, because few regens have a decent starting ca - so the likes of henri saivet will still get given around 6 stars for potential, because they start the game with good ca, but very few regens ever will until they're into their twenties and have played a fair bit of first team football
rather than reducing most talented-looking regens to 4 stars, i'd prefer to see a system where scouts give players high ratings for potential, but frequently get it wrong. so you'll get players like rooney, who get given 7 stars for potential at a young age and turn into great players, but also sonny pike-style youngsters who never amount to much.
this would add a lot of variety to proceedings, because you'd have a choice between snapping up 15-17 year olds who look like they could become world class but might well flop, or playing it safer and buying 18-21 year olds who've got a little bit of first team football under their belts yet still have a chance of improving a great deal
