i only use default formations as a template for my custom tactics. can't remember the last late equalizer/winner i've conceded in fm08, because i finish with a 4-4-0-0-1 with no forwards runs and long passins.
all my custom formations are AI formations anyway. in an old CM game, the AI actually used to nick my custom formations, which was
No, no where near cheating. So by your logic Alf Ramsay(sp), Henrik Michels(again sp) and the bloke who invented cateniaccio(again sp) are all cheats? Infact anyone who's experimented with a new formation to try to advance tactics from 2-3-5 to the 4-4-2/ 4-5-1/ 4-3-3's we have today are cheats?
Interesting one this and often a point i've pondered in the past.
I have used FM genie to scout players/used FMM in the past to a) find out player's sale value because the game gets into stupid bidding escalation most of the time I have found and b) to give myself some cash when the daft transfer system won't let me sell a player for anything like a reasonable amount (although the AI seems to be able to sell players). Many say that is cheating ... their opinion.
But I would say being able to make tactics that allow West Ham/ Everton etc to win the Prem. in their first or second season is also surely exploiting the weaknesses of the ME so therefore a form of cheating - see the crazy numbers of 'I've won 17 games on the trot with my 2-6-2' sort of posts for example.
my only argument was that I can play as I like to. he said that if AI were creating such tactics then it's not cheating. also if every team is managed by humans (like FML), it also isn't cheating. I saw what was he talking about becouse when changed my playing style I figured out how sucks am I tactics and how much better he was. using those formations gives you big advantage anyway...you can try it.
