if people are cheating by using tactics the ai is incapable of using, then the ai is cheating by knowing the ca of players and by not having to scout for players in the same way as a human manager would

The AI also use odd formations, as well as DM barrow, which they also use as a barrow from AMC to DM.

I prefer to stick with the std 442, and from my holiday testing, unusual formations do not produce any better results.

I would agree that if any systems were favoured it should be the more conventional, with the flair being provided by the players, under instruction from the manager.

I would say it's not.

I think I se where you coming from though. In real life you wouldn't see a manager change to some of the formations people use on FM as his team would probably get hammered, and they just wouldn't work. However, there is nothing stoping them from trying.

I would say cheating is classed as breaking the rules. You don't have to hack the game or anything to do these custom formations, in fact I would say its part of the whole experience of the game itself. So in my humble opinion, nope, not cheating.
