how do i get skins ive downloaded on to my game?
ive been told to download them to fm06 then data thn skins but i cant find the data bit!
can any one help?

all i can find are:matches, games, scheduels and tactics

That sounds like you are looking in 'my documents' where the save are kept.

You need to add skins to:

CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\skins

call me thick but once ive downloaded it how do i save it to that place?

Say the skin is called 'skinA'.

it will come as a .zip or .rar file. You need to extract this file. You will be left with a folder called 'skinA' in this example.

All you need to do is copy this folder to:

CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\skins

So you would end up with CProgram Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2006\data\skins\skinA

Now load the game, go to preferences, uncheck the skin cache option, choose your skin from the drop down list and click confirm.

ive done as you said. but when i get to drop down list i cant find the skin i downloaded!!
how do i get it up there?

- Unzip the skin anywhere you want (best place is desktop or folder the zip is in).

- After unzipping the skin, make sure the actual skin files are inside the SKIN_NAME folder (NOT inside SKIN_NAME\SKIN_NAME folder).

- Open the folder that you installed FM to. If you do not know - right the desktop shortcut for FM goto properites -> shortcut tab and click find target.

- Open the data folder.

- Open the skins folder.

- Place your skin in this folder.

- Load up FM, goto preferences select your skin.

can i extractit or does it need to be unziped?

It should be the same thing, depending on what program you have installed it'll give you different options.

Generaly right click on the file you have downloaded and click the extract here, unzip here (whatever the buttons called option - it may be in a sub menu - winzip, or winrar).

Easiest option is to use the 'extract/unzip here' option.

ive followed your instructions to the letter.
but when i get to the preferences bit the only skins that drop down are the ones that come with game!!

please tell me what else i might need to do!

Have you turned off the skin cache in the preferences menu?

If not turn it off, click confirm and reload FM.
