Thought i'd work on an obligatory skin release for FM2006, again trying something that looks complete different to what I've done previously. Planning for release a week or two after the game is out (takes a while for my copy to get to me).
Any suggestions and feedback is welcome. This is an ingame shot, so 98% of code is already done (just to add in some other notification icons). Theres loads of graphics still to do, so any recommendations on colour, styles etc then this is the time to do it :thup:
(Not exactly the most graphically adept person, so I appreciate being told what works and what doesn't - main things from this shot that I'm planning on further work on is the sections panel, quick pick arrows, and table headers)
Wow, that looks very impressive :thup: Your XML skills always amazes me.
A few suggestions:
The ticker and date bars should probably be connected. Looks a bit odd that they're two seperate bars, especially with such so square edges as everything else is rounded off.
Not a big fan of the paper graphic (especially the header part), it looks to me like it's a different colour and style from everything else.
The team typography is a bit odd imo, I would like to see it centered.
That's all I can think of for now. Very impressive!
Very nice. I've always fancied trying something without a footer but I've never gotten around to it.
I would agree with some of the points JAndersson made such as the split bar with the ticker and date looking odd. Not sure about where Manager and Links are at the minute, it took me a while to find them. Quicksave button is a great idea.
I really love the colour scheme - very easy to look at.
I forgot to list the news\date bars, I am going to give them slanted edges. i tried having it as a single bar, but didn't look right, as though it blocked the lot in. you're right about the box, too different. i'm trying to get that in a black with a glass type header and it's looking alright now so far
btw the where it says manager links aren't two seperate drop downs. the links is further over at the right. I tried to think of the best text to describe what the manager dropdown provides, as having just manager there didn't look right when you're viewing another team, and players it looks like they're a forward and a manager. i can see now that that could confuse, which isn't good.
Perhaps you could set it to the manager's name although people may well be confused as normally the manager name links to the snapshot screen. It is tough to think of something to call it.
Maybe you could move the 'manager' to the right side and have four item on the diagonal bar.
