i have decided to make man utd skin for fm08, my first attempt so should be fun. have downloaded all the software i need to do this and have even find beginners guide to making skins. one question though, i'm gonna start by modifing already existant skins so can get use to it. could people that have made skins for fm08 let me know is it easyer to modify default skin that comes with the game or should i try other skins that have been made

ALWAYS start from the default SI skin I'd say. You know there are no errors in it, you know it's been tested and you know it works.

Basing your skin on someone else's work you never know what kind of state the code is in or what little bugs they might have introduced.

cheers mate. i thought that might be the case. would you know in which folder default skin is installed in, is it dtb folder ??

The default skin files can be found where you installed Football Manager in a data directory. In there you should have various FMF files. You can access these by using the Resource Tool. I would suggest starting by editing graphics first and learning that way.

thanks ter, thats what i'm gonna do. about 7 years ago i did some graphic design courses and web design so am hoping that will make it easier for me to understand how skins work.
