I've done this quite a few times so I should be able to help you.
If you're creating a brand new team there are some other things you might want to create first, to go with your new team:
- Stadium
- City (where your stadium will be based)
- Weather (if you're really picky about things like that)
- Staff (coaches, scouts, physios, chairman, board members, etc)
The finer details all depends on how you want to play the game.
Do you want your new team to become a super team with loads of money and the best players, or do you just want them to be like all the other teams in their division?
