Hi not everything is clear to me on this subject. I want to edit the stas of some players, but in the past I've had some difficulties doing that the way I want. For example I want a player to have a passing stat of 18 while now he is 14. I changed just that and found out it didn't change to 18 but to another number. I discovered this had to do with current and potential ability. However, I am not exactly sure how this works in practice. I understand if up their abilities I can set higher stats, but how can I put the exact stats I want?

How do I edit a players stats the way I want? Post #2
the stats will never be exact, the AI may adjust the stats to suit the players ability.
The current and potential ability is in the reputation field of the editor. To give you an idea the best players in the world have an ability of around 180 and a potential of 185-200. ifm you want a really good player make sure the abilitys are like this. Then adjust the stats to suit, load a new game and off you go

I mailed SI and got this answer, maybe some of you find it useful information as well so I am posting this here:
Hi,
A player's attribute should roughly be one tenth his current ability, speaking relatively. Absolute attributes (mental traits, things which are set in an individual and won't likely change) can be set to any attribute and will not change, but relative attributes, mainly looking at the skillset of a player, will change if they don't match his CA well. For example, a guy with CA of 80 shouldn't have attributes much above 8, else it imbalances and the player has attributes not matching his ability. Which is where the game comes in and balances it out.
To answer your question, you'll really need to keep the attributes in line with the current ability. Raising the CA is really the best way to ensure the attributes raise in accordance.
Cheers,
Phil

ok i had the same problem. its a pain. untill i found this. http://lacabooy.uw.hu/FMM2.0%20Beta2.rar
open your fm game.load it. then open this download i just sent you.look for a player and change what you want. but not his club. but yes you can change stats. i think it depends what version (patch) you got. if this one doesnt work just look for another one in the editors highway forums. look for fm beta. or you can look on google. there are 3 i think obviously for each patch.
