I am managing Rangers, and they were taken over by a tycoon that supplied me with a 50mil GBP transfer budget. I brought in a ton of talent into this squad, yet they are performing almost worse than my less talented squad did last season. Problems I am having that I hope you gents can help me with when it comes to tactics.
One this is getting a ton of shots yet not scoring. I am consistently having matches where I am getting 19 shots, 11 on target and scoring once. For some reason my players (including Ronaldo) just cannot convert and most of these players should be dominating these weaker spl teams.
Another thing is passing, I am seeing a lot of crappy passing by good passers. Lots of direct passing from my defenders that gives away possession. I tried to fix this by changing their passing from direct to mixed, but then I couldn't get the ball out of my end. And the field always seems cramped when my midfield tries to pass, theres no fluidity and it is hard to get some good build ups in the final third.
Another thing is giving away easy goals. Like I said, I am getting around 19 shots a game, my opponents getting around 5 (2 on target) yet I have been scored on quite easily. I am getting caught on the counterattack do to my defenders poor direct passing, and also I am dealing with tons of 30 yard wonderstrikes going in.
I do not know much about tactics, I have tried to learn but TTF has worked before, this game it isnt.
I am watching more games in full, and I am noticing the opposition often does not have a lot of pressure on them and their passes rarely are intercepted. This is a big contrast to my team, which seemingly has to force a ball down the field to get a bad shot off.
I hope I am providing enough information so that someone can assist me because I am at a loss.
Your primary problem may not be tactical. If you spent the majority of your 50mil budget, you've probably got a squad of players who've never played together and need to gel. Give it some time.
few months. He's right though, the side needs time to gel to get to know each other. If you bring in only one player it won't take to long but if you have made major changes the time will take longer... up to about 4 months maybe. Your tactics are probably fine.
hm well its now february, it was december when i posted this, and the team is still not performing like they should. i just cannot convert many of my chances and i give up goals too easily. i am still in the top 2 easily, but the games are always nerve wrecking (despite these commentary claims that i am winning comfortably!) no team in the spl, not even celtic should be able to compete with the talent and tactics i have with this team yet i am about 11 points behind celtic who dominates despite a clear lack of talent compared to me. for some reason, the keepers i play against play amazing despite not getting MoM awards, and I give up way too many goals.
When playing open the assistant advice menu, choose team-talk feedback. Here your assistant mangager reports on the morale in the squad, also he tells you how well your players gel.
hmm ok i think i am understanding why i am playing poorly and that is because teams i play seem to really pack it in, 9 men behind the ball, and hit me on the counter attack. are there any tactical strategies for teams that do this?
oh my god! this team is so frustrating. perhaps they are simply ignoring my tactics? my assistant says they have a good understanding but despite the fact that i have passing set to short they insist on playing long ball. they also insist on making awful passes. this is so frustrating i dont get these players at all!

talented players not performing under TTF Post #10
wow I am sick of this garbage! i just lost to a division one team in the scottish cup. 2-1, they had but 2 shots on goal. i have 7 on target 18 over all. WOW. i am so frustrated. yet again they continue to ignore my tactics. i cannot believe this is happening.
