I've been a reader for a while, since FM2006 really, and I'm finding 2007 the hardest of the lot. I've a game with Juve I did well with, but in my second season in Seria A found myself a victim of the 're-ranking' and had a terrible season which nearly lost me my job. I've also had a few games with my beloved Newcastle, and only just kept my job in the first season.
So I've been really working on my tactics and I've a few questions - forgive me if they've been asked to death already but there's just so much to read on here that I can't possibly go through it all so quickly...
Do coaches improve their stats? And if so, are these improvements relative to the area they coach? I think I read somewhere that scouts' stats improve the more you require reports/send them away... is this true?
I've seen people talk about individual instructions and team instructions... to what extent to the team instructions override the individual? Are team instructions more of an 'overall' bearing on the game, how the team dynamic will play, whilst individuals are a players' roles? Or do they both override each other?
Tempo - how much does this relate to the passing set? I'm talking in terms of team instructions (do player instructions play a factor here?), if I set my team to high tempo and direct balls, will they try and get at the opposition as fast as they can playing the ball long, quickly? Or will the direct passing counter-act the high tempo? And am I reading passing style wrong if I think the more direct = to feet?
Again, apologies if they've been discussed to death, there's just so much to read on here...!
Also, what are the opinions on closing down on this forum? I always saw it as something that put pressure on the opposition, especially if they like to pass it around, but from what I've read on here people seem to think it drags people out of position too much?
Another one - how much attention do you pay to your opposition scout reports? If they recommend you try and stop them moving the ball quickly to their front line, do you then adopt a pressing, narrow game?
Or do you play your normal way and change your style based on how they play mid-game?
The coaches' stats change, I know this because my coaches tend to fade, so I have to fire them and hire new ones But I assume this means they can improve as well.
