Basically, I just started a file with Arsenal, and I would like to create a tactic with a free flowing 5 man midfield. I have 2 wingers (Hleb, RVP) with arrows to AMCs, 2 MCs (Rosicky, Baptista) with farrows to AMCs, and a MC (Fabregas) with a barrow to DM. In order to create free flowing football, I'd ideally want the attacking 4 to have free roles. Would this work?

I have never played with that many players on free roles. What I have had success with is giving fairly high levels of "creative freedom" to attacking players. I generally look for players with good teamwork and positioning. My "theory" is that this has them fill gaps defensively as well as being very fluid in attack. Whatever the reality is, it has worked for me.
As far as free roles I usually keep it to one AMC, or one or both strikers...or if I am playing with one SC and two wingers I often put the wingers on free roles...but I am too cowardly to put that many players on frees.

Putting four players into a free role seems a little risky. Think in real life terms. You will have around 36%, more than a third of your team all trying to do their own thing. Notwithstanding that all four have the required attributes high enough to fulfill their roles, it may be asking a lot.

No it is unlikley to work well over a period of time. Too much creative freedom means great attacking but rotton defending because the creative players are all doing their own thing and not abiding by team instructions. Keep free role to 1 or a max of 2 players and limit the creative freedom instruction on your wingers.
