Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default 4-2-4 (TM V 2.01 Long)

http://fmdownloads.net/index.php?action=downloadfile&fi...y=FM%202007/Tactics&

Hi guys, this isn't my tactic but i would like to take the opportunity to let you know that i really liked it, whoever created it. I used it on league one and epl to really nice results and scores so i thought i will just share and let others test it and see if its only working for me or also for the rest.

Its an all out 4 attackers(2 of which are wingers/strikers), 2 central midfielders(one defensive, one attacking) and 4 defenders. I was looking for such a 4-2-4 in standard tactics to mod but couldnt fine one so went to look for a ready one and to my surprised, works awesomely.

let me know if its just me or indeed the tactic is good, at least the creator can get some credit? heh

I spent some time looking for a thread on this tactic as I came to this first and not the original.

Since having some trouble after the new patch with tactics with coventry when I had doudin and eddie johnson up front scored the most goals in the league but let in the most. I reverted back to this old gem.

The tweaks I made after chelsea and velencia bought my only good players.

Were set the wingers to the standard winger settings.

Although there is good corner instructions I changed them to "pele10's"

"attacking corners

gk default
dr default
dl default
dc near post flick on
dc challange keeper
mc stay back
mc stay back
mr forward
ml farward
sc lurk out side
sc attack ball from deep

mr/ml takes the corner

corner aimed at far post"

I changed the corner aim to near post though and scored some key goals from these.

Now this without opposition instructions worked ok but not as consistant to win the championship.

So on to opposition instructions

for this

before each game I would go through each player of the other team including the keeper and if any player had left or right food ONLY i would force them onto the weaker foot.

Any player with bravery less than 13 I would hard tackle.

Any fast attacker I would mark tightly

Any tall striker I would close down and mark tightly depending on their technique if it was above 10 I would usually just close down.

for the midfielders same applies

If any player of theirs had a low condition or an injury I would hard tackle them.

This so far has seen me rocket to the top of the championship with a weakened side.

I hope others can feel the benefits of this.

Take note you dont always need to set a target man just depends how good your other striker is at finishing and pace.

good luck to you if you've got the patience to do that before each game

Was just about to post that, it does take a bit of time before each game. But I guess its realistic and the effort pays off I have found it a lot more rewarding too.

It beats spending no time and getting annoyed at loosing. With that little bit of effort the annoyance has stopped

I would say it is not only before a game but during too... I use similar instructions as gavinkil on opposition instructions but will change things all through the game depending on opposition formations and substitutions which means it can take 2-3 minutes for each match rather than just letting the clock tick away.

It does slow down the time a season takes but can help with getting better results.

Yeah you have to watch for the cheeky subs. Definatley find it a lot more rewarding putting the effort in for the game.

Such a difference from all the previous fm/cm's when it was set up your team and tactics and press go.

I can also recommend a good way to watch the game being in split screen with the left being your teams ratings anf the right being the opposition formation. Also keep hightlights to goals only and that way you get to see what caused the goal and see if there is a concern as well as seeing the opps changes pretty swiftly.
