I dont know whether it is because I am on the 7.0.1 version or because Everton dont have the 'better' players (Yeading certainly dont )...But in 24 matches the best result I mustered was a 2-2 draw...This also included a 9-1 away defeat to Newcastle, where Ameobi scored...SEVEN

For a decent solid tactic my search coninues...Cheers anyway.

D 1-1 Away v Burnley / 12 shots, 8 on target – Burnley with only one on target. Had 52% of the possession. But a disappointing performance from my lot in the way of finishing. Should have won with ease. 2 points dropped.


W 3-0 Home v West Ham United / 25 shots, 13 on target – WHU with 5 shots, 3 on target. 58% possession. Easy win.


W 6-0 Home v Sunderland / 29 shots, 14 on target with 57% possession. 1 shot on target for the mackems. This tactic seems to adore weak opposition.


W 3-2 Away v Sparta Prague / 17 shots on goal, 9 on target and 56%. Played a weaker side and two goals conceded were goal keeping mishaps.

W 4-0 Away v Reading / 15 shots, 6 on target with 54% of the ball. Reading managed 5 shots on target. Masterclass of finishing.

W 6-0 Home v Sparta Prague / 16 shots, 12 on target and 55% possession. One shot on target for Prague. Utterly dominant.

W 2-0 Away v Fulham / Lucky escape this one. Two goals in the final 10 minutes seal the points after Fulham battle well – probably inspired by some pre-match comments. Had 4 shots on target (from 13). Fulham also had 4 shots on target. 55% possession in my favour.

W 3-1 Home v Reading / Key players rested for this one. Didn’t score the 3rd till the 92 minute. 22 shots, 10 on target. Reading had 9 shots, 3 saved.

W 4-2 Away v Villarreal / The first true test of the tactic. Stunning away win. 15 shots on goal, 10 on target with the Spanish only managing 5 on target. Great away day performance.

D 2-2 Away v Cardiff / ‘A game they should have won easily’. This was a FA Cup game. 18 shots, 12 on target. Cardiff had 4 on target. A bit wasteful in front of goal.



It’s probably something to note, but my fixture list thus far has ironically been quite ‘easy’ in that I haven’t played any of the big teams. That’s about to change with the run-in with games against Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.



W 3-0 Home v Villarreal / 18 shots, 9 on target compared to just two from the away side. 51% possession. Its so easy at the Lane….

D 0-0 Away v Southend / An off-day for my strikers. Southend didn’t have a single shot on target. I had 5 from 15. They defended okay, so not sure if the tactics are at fault here – however, maybe I should have gone all out attack or changed it a little to shake the match up a bit.

W 4-0 Home v Cardiff / FA Cup replay, no contest. 19 shots, 13 on target, 57%.

D 1-1 Home v Middlesbro / Shocking first half performance. Even with 54% possession, boro managed 6 shots, 3 on target compared to my single shot. Having also won in tackles, passes and headers – I’m left ‘scratching my head’. On performance – first half was simply a case of not really being effective in their pen area where as boro were a tad more confident with taking shots. The first half of this game was the first time I’ve been out-played using this tactic. Second half was an improvement, but statistically the game ended:

7 shots, 4 on target for boro / 4 shots, 2 on target for Spurs.

Boro, played a 3-3-2-1-1 formation, and were pretty much a pain in the backside to breakdown. Maybe a combination of them playing very well defensively, and my team having a bit of an off day played a part in the 1-1 draw.

Also – as I am not tweaking at the moment, I’m thinking that at times, it would probably be beneficial to change formation or ploy to force the opposition to change their formation.


D 2-2 Away v Aston Villa / 17 shots on goal, 11 on target. Villa only managing 5 on target. 53%. Back on form, just allowed Villa a 2-0 lead early in the game before waking up.

W 2-1 Home v Liverpool / Playing a very strong Liverpool team. So a great result here. 16 shots, 7 on target. Liverpool had 8 – but all 8 on target. 52% in my favour. A right royal tussle of a game – so very pleased to win it.

W 2-0 Away v Spartak Moscow / Dominant. 25 shots ,12 on target, 56%.

W 5-2 Away v Man Utd/ Both had 7 shots on target each, very open game, both sides sharing possession – but the better finishing was with my forwards. I think this tactic has to be a keeper if I can come away with such a victory here – especially in this manner. Though Utd are 8th in the table, and they did have 3 first teamers (including Rooney) out injured.

W 4-0 Home v Spartak Moscow / Comfortable once more. 12 shots, 7 on target. Far better finishing. Three of the four from midfield.

W 2-0 Home v Blackburn / More of the same. Rovers never in it.

You seem to have got this tactic working pretty well without tweaking I love the way it plays but am not sure that this will work in the Championship due to the weather and skills.

What tweaks would you suggest from what you have seen of the tactic? I would prefer to move the wing-backs back but I don't want to upset the tactic too much.
