Hey guys, I'm Man City starting my 3rd season now and have won the Premiership twice in a row and got to the Champions League final and wondering if you guys could recommended some players to strengthen my team. I have around £20m to spend but probably can get more with a budget adjustment.
DM - Lucas, Kehl
MR - Belluschi, Pedro Leon
ML - Fernandez, Menez
AMC - Elano, Moutinho, Lulinha
ST - Sobis, Bianchi
ST - Briand, Sahar
I feel it's solid enough, I have so many GK's because I was able to get Foster for £500k and Chelsea where interested in him aswell and thought he would have been decent enough backup for Agliardi. Then Ustari(long term target) signed a new contract with Getafe who got relegated and was available for £8.5m so I couldn't pass him up. Most of the rest of the positions are pretty well stocked but Lucas is unhappy at the moment because Inter want him and I wont let him go.
Before you guys start flaming me about where Richards is, I sold hiim in the first saeason so I could bring in some players I wanted to and believed that I would win the league with- a wise decision but he's still a good player.
You guys got any comments or suggestions on what positions I should strengthen and/or players to do so?
I have had my eye on Gyan since the first season but my scouts said he wouldn't amount to too much. Sobis is rated as my best striker by my assistant manager and he always seems to put in good performances. Just put 2 goals past Reading as we speak.
Why would you want to replace Lucas? Hes a good player!
GK - Sell Isaksson, keep the rest
DR - 2 good players there
DL - same as DR
DC - Breno is very good, as is Djourou
DM - OK there
MR - Asamoah
ML - Good there
AMC - good there
ST - Zarate for about 3.5mil
The obvious place would be CB. I'm sure you can do better than what you have. Dunne would be 30 by now so is probably the last year you can sell him and make some money. Do so and get someone else in. Albiol generally signs a new contract with a low release clause. You might want to look that up. Breno, Djourou, Garay, Zapata are potential targets as well. All turn out great/are great.
The strikers are good too but if you get a good offer for any of Sobis, Bianchi or Sahar, I'd say sell as you can do better than all 3. Dont sell all obviously but whoever attracts a good bid, sell him.
If Lucas wants to go, let him go. But only if you get a good price. Veloso is just as good as Lucas so get him instead.
Yeah CB was the one place I wanted to get someone else in. Dunne ****ed me off last season by not signing a new contract until 3months before his old one ran out! SO yeah, he can go, he also got stripped of his captaincy lol... Garay moved to Barca and then moved to Villareal for megabucks, so he doesn't want to move right now. I was in for Zapata who had moved to Napoli but he opted for Real Madrid in a £24m move. Djourou isn't interested (funny that, he used to be) so the only one out that bunch is Breno who is at Atheltico Madrid and would cost over £10m, is he worth it, does he perform well?
The reason I have Sahar is he kept rejecting a contract at Chelsea and my Scouts are saying he's going to be the best thing since sliced bread- a definite purchase so I paid the £3m compensation and got him up to play a bit part.
Any ideas on a very good striker? Was thinking Fred by my scouts are not raving about him anymore.
Yeah Breno is worth 10M imo. He's a good CB. I mentioned Albiol as well. He is very good too and versatile. If he's got the low release clause, get him (I think its usually around 15M?).
Other CB options are Mancienne, Evans (Man Utd), Sakho, Cahais, Araujo, Taylor (Newcastle) and Alexis (Valencia). See what they look like, what the scouts say and how much you can get them for.
Yeah, Sahar does turn out good I think. So keep him I suppose. You might get a huge bid for Bianchi or Sobis. If you do, accept it. The one indispensable striker you have is Briand who's fb! There are plenty of great strikers around. Just depends whos where and who costs how much. Some targets who I think will be happy to come to you now are Balotelli, Saivet, Vela, Bendtner, Prudnikov, Benzema to name a few. Fred will still be great no doubt. Only reason your scouts arent raving about him anymore is because he's now 3 years older and your other strikers have matured a bit. Fred is awesome so get him if you can. Wont recommend Zarate as I dont think he's as good as Sobis, Bianchi & Briand.

Unfortunatly Albiol has a release clause of £54m . I can attract some really quality defender like Toure and Ferdinand lol but like you say I want somone younger who is quality and will be around for a bit.
How good does Saivet turn out? I know he has massive potential but does his stats fill out well? I think I might get either him or Vela.
PS. For backup to Elano I have Joao Moutinho on loan, do you think I should loan out Lulinha (looking damn good, been tutored by Elano and Fernandez) to get loads of first team football or keep him and fit him in when I can?
I'd say keep Lulinha and play him whenever you can (FA Cup, Carling Cup, easier League games). If Moutinho is on loan, just keep him as backup and only use him if Elano gets injured or something. Else help your own player (Lulinha) develop. And yes, he does become class.
As for Saivet, he's comparable to Bojan & Vela mate. Just get whoever your scouts rate higher or whoever is looking better. I think Vela should be looking really good by now.
