Here's a rule I'm surprised isn't mentioned more explicitly.
No do-overs. i.e. No loading of old save games of the current career or of quitting out of the current game without saving first. Makes sense if you're going for realism.
I'm new here but I've pretty much been playing by these rules (more or less) on my own so hopefully I'll fit right in.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
You are right but the rules you have given are such blatant examples of cheating that it goes without saying that you shouldn't use them.

Good stuff Iajafer. One thing you might want to consider adding to the part about known players...
It is surely fine to buy known players in the same game is it not? For example, there were 4 players I sold from my Billericay team only to buy them back later in their careers. I already knew what they could do, already knew of them because they had played for me and so didn't need to scout them.
Just to reiterate, this is all in the same game, not a different one.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
How would you go about finding former players though but keeping within LLM guidlines...
Is there a case for using the 'find' function to get the players...?
Not that I ever do, but realistically, if you want to find a former player, you have some contact IRL, which in the game is like the quick search...
And sorry for asking another question in this thread, just getting everthing in place before I start my game next month...! |

So using the 'find' function to locate players from earlier in the same save is fine. Thank you. It wasn't that awkward...

You guys say that it is not realstic to sign players unless you have scouted them. However, irl at the moment, Martin Allen is practically builing a new team for Barnet this summer, and Barnet do not even have a scout employed! So he is using his contacts, players he knows of etc to sign players.
So in CM4, say I wanted to sign a striker who has been top of the conference scoring charts for the past 2 years and is out of contract it would not be unrealistic to sign him surely?!

Yeah I think you definetley should scout youngsters and unknown playrs, but players who are well known in the non-league game (e.g players who play for the England national XI) do not need to be scouted imho, even if you are starting a new game as you still may have some knowledge of lower league player/teams. I read the non-league paper a lot and this has helped to generate a lot of knowledge of good non-league players even below the conference. Say I start a new CM4 game and need a new defensive mid, I might think, "[a player] of Canvey Island would be a good signing because has quite a good reputation in the lower leagues and could fill that position quite well".
You see my point? |

Sam. You've posted in here a couple of times. Already you've advocated the use of editors, dissed the scouting guidlines and are asking for advice in Tactics and Training.
LLM's not only about managing a Lower League Team, it's about the way you play. There's a Spirit and Ethos about playing the LLM way.
If you're not interested in playing the LLM way, don't post in here.

Whats with all the argueing ?
Realistically any manager will have some knowledge, however this should come from your knowledge of the REAL LIFE game.
Base everything on the information you can find out in real life (transfers, free players, scoring charts, match reports etc.), plus what your scouts tell you.
In the end it's down to each individual to decide how to play the game, no right, no wrong, those who play as realistically as possible will get a better buzz out of it, those who dont get something else. It's really not that important !

Absolutely. However...
...this is the LLM Forum. There are Rules and Guidlines that will be followed in order to post here.
If you don't follow them, you don't post here.
Fact.
You bought the game, you play it as you will, but you don't come to my house and light up a cigarette or you leave sharpish with a nicotine suppository.
Understand the analogy?

Which is already built into the game in your "known player" list.
