Excellent job.

One small thing I would like to know though as a newbie, I saw someone being told that when looking for players, don't overuse the attributes filters...

So say I've got a big lanky striker and I'm looking for a MR with decent crossing, can I just put crossing up to say 10 and leave everything else... (except 'interested' as well).

It's clear this isn't realistic at all, because no RL manager can do this... so why do you say 'don't over use them' rather than 'don't use them fullstop'...

I'd never even thought twice about this before it was mentioned, and I know it's only a small thing but some advice would be good.

Cheers and KUTGW!

Always worth starting a thread if you want to see other peoples views on it... this will get far too cluttered if everyones starts asking questions.

Ok, on both points.

If you are scouting on the basis that you have heard of him in RL, that is not good enough.

If a scout reports on a player that you have heard of, then it's okay to sign him if he fits in with your plans - but not if you could find a cheaper replacement who can do the same job (but that goes without saying).

Good stuff Iajafer. One thing you might want to consider adding to the part about known players...

It is surely fine to buy known players in the same game is it not? For example, there were 4 players I sold from my Billericay team only to buy them back later in their careers. I already knew what they could do, already knew of them because they had played for me and so didn't need to scout them.
Just to reiterate, this is all in the same game, not a different one.

Juanseba. Your question was a very good example of, "if you have to ask...then you very probably are"

Nobby. Aye, that's fine in my eyes. Martin O'Neill did it with two Leicester players.

_The Transfer Screen._ Stricter LLaMas would never attempt to sign players purely based on the fact they appear as freed in the screen that lists all transfers Worldwide as such a list does not exist in real life. It’s possible to find out such information in the Press, online, etc., but a real life manager doesn’t have access to a transfer screen.

Nice guidelines, I think that must be about 50 times longer than the original 'crap rules'. The only point I'd disagree with is this, I'm sure it's been mentioned many times before but FIFA keep a register of all freely available players around the globe and fax it to club managers. So a list of available free agents is entirely realistic, a sort of 'transfer screen' you might say. Also when teams like Man Utd release youth players they actively try to find them new clubs and proactively contact lower league clubs to alert them to there availability and invite the managers to come and watch them play, scouts aren't involved at all.

That's a fact, Brod. I did, however, point out that this isn't a definitive guide to LLM and that the game should be played as realistically as you feel. If you feel it's kosher to use the transfer screen then so be it, but I'd hope you scouted the players rather than just signing them

The Zealots don't do transfer screens

Aye it's all semantics at the end of the day, I always believe in the if you have to ask if you're cheating, YOU ARE rule. I'd never sign a player I hadn't scouted first and I usually scout a player several times and compare his stats to my present teams long before a contract offer. But i do believe the transfer screen has three very valid functions that aren't even 'grey' areas mainly searches for:

Transfer listed famous players
Loan listed players
Free transfers

Just my humble opinion.

Ah, that's not the screen I was referring to. It's the screen under your name that lists all the transfers and frees that have happened monthly, Worldwide.

The Player/Staff search screen is perfectly ok for the players you mentioned, with minimum filters enabled.
