I've always played with LL teams, prolly because i Support a LL team myself (well middle range team (Tranmere)).
But I always play with generated players. As it removes the baseline of knowing players and thus the temptation to pick them.
Much more 'baselined' when you don't recognise any of the names as it removes any natural bias, or knowledge i may have about xxx player.

I began with 2nd division sides in an attempt to reach the heights and steadily worked my way downwards. Every time I rebegin with a new challenge, never playing the same team.

I played older games like Football Manager and Premier Manager before CM was around, and they always made you start in the bottom division.
After playing as 'decent' 3rd division clubs in CM93, such as Fulham and Preston, I moved on to more and more pĂ*ss-poor clubs, and I've done the same ever since. Plymouth are probably the biggest club I've ever managed in any version of CM3.

You could call me an LLM lifer. I've always loved downtrodden teams and clubs in all sports. So, once I started playing CM, it was only natural to play with crap teams. Granted, I tried playing with Wimbledon and a couple of big clubs initially, just to get the hang of the game, but once I got things sorted as a manager, I moved on to the lowest dregs possible.
These days, I can't even be bothered to play in the English Conference. To me that isn't LLM anymore, because there are other leagues that are far worse and more challenging. And they're typically in countries with poor reputations. That, combined with the fact that I don't have the nationality of a football powerhouse country, makes managing in those leagues the truest form of LLM that I can find. Once you've reached glory against those odds, climbing upward from the very bowels of football, you can never manage big clubs again.

Aye, the longer you play LLM to more varied and interesting you want your teams to be! I've enjoyed Brazil and Belgium more than England. Unfortunately my Russian save crashed before it got too far |

Nobby - it was football director 2. gawd that game was awful! btw, I did a course a Newcastle-u-Lyme college.
I think once you get into proper LLM, theres no going back. I had a go with Man City on CM93 & with Charlton on CM97/98 I think lasted 3 or 4 seasons before I got bored & restarted with a LL team.
What sort of successes have people had?
Personally I've enjoyed very little, after taking every 3rd div side to prem success in CM93 the best I've done 3 times runner up in the french 1st div with Noisy-le-Sec on CM01/02.

I've never won a top domestic title, but I have won a Champions Cup with Barnet (before CM discovered the Conference) and been World & European champions with Ireland. I must have been on fire at the time, it all happened in the same game. Either that or that version of CM2 was too easy.

Go Dover! I'm managing them in the EMA Online game right now. Doubt I can take em to the CL tho.
So far no CM4 game lasted long enough to make it further than Division 2. Just got promoted to Div 2 with Kettering and I hear EP4 is right around the corner, so I'll start over once again... |
