I spend money on a game based on whether or not I think I'll enjoy it. And, (ahem) I don't think I should have to 'grow' into enjoying a game. I don't have the money to spend on games as an "acquired taste."
I'll buy 03/04, in all likelihood. Then they should have the kinks worked out.

I have a feeling some people (not pointing at you mate ) are tarring CM4 with their first impressions and not really giving it a chance.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
I have given CM4 a number of chances. Out of the box & EP's 1-3 have seen my enthusiasm erode away, but I'm the eternal optimist and I am looking very forward to EP4.
Repeating myself here as I just said the same sort of thing in another thread, but it is very difficult to have a long term game with these exhancement packages. Yes you can continue with your present game after being EP'd, but the damage done by previous flaws stays (mtce bug as an example). I like a long term game, not starting over and over and over after each patch. A single game of CM is like red wine. It gets better with age. My last CM3 game went for a whole year, and that is what I want from CM4..Longativity.
The last version of CM3 had everything I wanted and I am sure at some stage CM4 will have the same but saying that, EP4 is the final fling for me. I'll start again and judge CM4 in it's latest strip, but if it doesn't perform to my LLaMa expecations, it's frizbie time. |

You just summarized me, sheepshagger.
Though in my case it's CM00/01. I didn't get CM01/02 because I figured I'd get CM4. And instead I read about the loads of bugs it has, and even if it was bug-free I don't have the horses to run it. (my comp being 4 years old. And as we know, in the world of computers this is practically iajafer age. )
But I'll gladly buy a copy of CM01/02 off someone's hands. |

I don't know what to do anymore, to me going back to CM01/02 is like a step back in time, yet i crave the stability and lonevity it bought. Funnily enough i have a 2.66 Processor and a PC that would kick most PC's off the planet and yet stil its slow and unreliable, i cant play in windowed mode either which sucks, how am i sposed to use MSN? LLm wise welli agre with Taipan i look forward to EP4 eagerly but it means i cannot enjoy my current game as much as my last 50 season Farnborough epic.
Ha Ha plus does anybody else feel that crawling back to Cm 01/02 just consigns yourself to the realisation you've wasted 30 quid?

Merkinstein: A RAM upgrade won't do a darn thing to speed up the game, 512mb are more than the game needs if you don't have all kinds of other hungry applications running. (Assuming you're not running all possible leagues on the maximum database, I didn't dare to try that). Just take a look at the task manager and see for yourself.
The only thing that can help you speed it up further is a faster CPU. Some people also reported some success with a tool called GEAR (search GQ), but I never tried it and I wouldn't want to, as I fear tools like these may make the CM4 environment less stable.
Sorry for off-topic tech talk but I see this more-RAM nonsense too often, and I want to prevent people from unneccessarily spending money (better save it for the full-price update CM 03/04 ).

From your warning I'd have thought that you'd know better than to player name. |

I'd like to test my 512Mb RAM pc against a 1Gb RAM pc - i would bet you would see a difference, both in leagues running and how quick saves, etc happened.
<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
I recently upgraded from 512Mb RAM to 1Gb and it does not seem to affect the recommended number of leagues. I don't have any worries over game speed, though I am currently running within the recommended number of leagues(All the available American).

I hate to day it, but I do prefer CM4 :o
It's not without its bugs though and not being able to find any out un-signed youth players is a problem.
I'll probably get stamped all over for this, but at the end of season one (instead of trying to scout for non-existant players) I look down the transfer out column of the bigger clubs to see who has been released. (That should put the cat amoungst the pidgeons!)
The reason - any manager could contact a club for info on players released, and there is usually a list on teletext etc.
For e.g. IRL Partick Thistle have just signed a youngster from Chelsea that no-one has ever heard of. Surely this must have come up through a phone-call at some point?
