Germany are always written off by the British popular Press, Dale, before every International Competition.

Who's always there at the end of the day, though?

(To beat England on penalties That's always a good laugh )

Yeah, like that famous Lineker quote: "Football is a game with 22 men and in the end, the Germans always win".
The German popular press doesn't really participate that much in the mudslinging so that's probably why this rivalry is so one-sided. Then again it could be because Germany came up on top more often than not, so there's no reason for an inferiority complex ;D

It was fascinating to see the different press reports about those two games in the WC Qualifiers. I was surprised by the hostility of the English press to say the least.

Terry Venables managed Portsmouth and Australia at the same time and you don't get much further apart than those two so who's to say what's unrealistic?

What's with all the subtle Germany tossing recently? This one-way rivalry (most Germans don't have anything against British people or British football) is so childish. It wasn't their fault they didn't have to play against stronger opponents in the knock-out stages - they all lost to South Korea or didn't make it past the group stage!

They did what they had to do yes, but that doesn't stop them being a relatively weak team...
And to be fair, the German media do enough grilling of their own team, the British (English) media just jump on the bandwagon...
I'd like to think that's dying out now though, anti-German cráp's getting pretty old now... :/

The day Italy actually appoint a non-Italian National as Team Boss I'll run naked down Princes Street with a lilac bow round my knob.

There's a veritable Universe of difference between interviewing a Spaniard and appointing one.

*Brazilian

And when Italy run out of good enough managers to manage the team they'll appoint a foreigner, as happened in England.
