...
wow.. this is going to be the single most detailed instruction I've ever given.. and I've done tech-help for the elderly on the phone! (seriously some of them just don't know computers need electricity)
ehm.. anyway..
Go to your Desktop
Right-Click MY COMPUTER (following me so far?)
When you Right-Click MY COMPUTER a small box should appear bellow your pointer. Find Properties and click it.
Now you should see a screen similar to what my screenshot shows.
Ok, After you've done that look up. You will see a tab called ADVANCED (still following me?)
Press it.
In the window appearing bellow you should see the following.
PERFORMANCE
USER PROFILE
BOOTSEQUENCE AND...
under PERFORMANCE is a button labled PROPERTIES or SETTINGS. Press it.
A new window will pop up. ignore it. Next to VISUAL EFFECTS (on the top) you should see ADVANCED. Press that
Here you will see
PROCESSOR PLANING
USE OF MEMORY
VIRTUAL MEMORY
under VIRTUAL MEMORY there should be the following or similar text (I'm translating all this from another language)
A swapfile is an area on the harddrive which Windows uses as RAM
Total size of swapfile for all stations: "number MB"
Write down the "number MB" and post it to us. If you don't see any it would mean you have an auto-swap file. (but it will still be on the screen, with the exception of the number)
I hope you got that.. if not.... well then you're worse at technical stuff than most old people
