Alright,

I am dying to play a good manager game again.

I've played all of the CMs (up to CM4) and all of the FMs. Some I enjoyed more, some less.
Personally, I don't like FM 2008 because I feel the match engine is not the best it ever was even with the new patch.
You don't have to agree with me.

So, I'm asking you, which was the best all-around game and patch version?

Was it CM 03/04? maybe FM 2007 with the latest patch?
Tell me what I should re-install!

From what I have played of the FM series FM07 patched up was my favourite. Oh and the subject of 08 - IMO the latest patch is carp but if you want a realistic match engine, try one of the two beta patches, I prefer the second myself but each to his own

FM 2006 was the best of the FM era for me. (well the most enjoyable anyway), however I had an epic game on FM 2007, which also is ranked highly by me FM 2008 has the potential, lets hope the patch helps it reach it

FM07 - perfectly playable out of the box.

FM08 has the potential, but it just isn't finished.

7.0.2 for me.

Absolutely no idea what was wrong with that match engine that warranted such a change, because right now it's horrific. What exactly was so bad about 7.0.2?

Brilliant match engine, no stupid pre-match instruction screens and youth players that actually developed.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago - not surprisingly no one from SI commented (or possibly i have just not noticed the comment) on why they changed something that was essentially excellent, and replace it with something highly flawed.

all you needed on 07 was one quick striker with dribling over 10...it was fun, chalinging nop...

Ha 03/04 was fun but it was one of the worst, far too easy but you have inspired me to start a new game on it tonight.

For nostalgia sake it has to be CM97/98 for me as it popped my CM/FM cherry. Used to sit and do my homework as it loaded, this took sometimes upto an hour lol. Remember the way the teams flashed in coloured bars across the top of the screen, i'm sure I had almost memorised the order, when I saw Wycombe I knew I was only a couple of minutes away from starting my game.

In honesty though CM01/02 was the best of the CM series and FM06 has been the best tof the FM series.
