This is something I've been thinking about recently. It regards the development of young players:
If you make a 16 year old a "hot prospect for the future", are they likely to develop faster/better than they would if they were just "decent young players"? It seems to me logical that they would, but I suspect this is not incorporated into the game. My thinking behind this is that I've often thought that as a young footballer if you were told you were going to be something special or that the club were keeping an eye on you, you'd be even more determined in training/games etc.
Has anyone done any kind of experiment to see if this does have an effect in FM? Or, does anyone think I'm completely wrong in my thinking?
never really thought about it tbh.. i suppose it could affect the way they are in the game.. but then that would also depend on their personalities... its a thought for an experiment though!! any willing volunteers?!
I think that would be a great addition to the game, especially as transfers in game are basically nothing like the ones in real life at the moment. I might try an experiment based on it, maybe by creating 6 identical players, both unemployed and both with exactly the same stats, current and potential abilites and same ages.
Then i will sign them for a club one with a decent young player contract, one with hot prospect for the future, one with backup for the first team, one for used in squad rotation, one with important first team player and one with key player.
Do you think it would work out?
and what should be a good starting number for the players stats.. 5 for each one? or 10 for each one?

Wouldnt you just end up putting all your youth players as hot prospects then?
Thats the whole point of experimenting with it.. to see if setting it as hot prospect for the future changed the way the player developes </BLOCKQUOTE>
That is why it wouldn't make sense to implement it into the game. Everyone would just make their entire youth squads "hot prospects". Unless of course there was some kind of artificial limit on the number of players you could designate as such.
