Still, we don't allow linking to downloads where you have to register. A direct link to the download or a link to a page that contains the download would be fine.

What security issues are there?

Ive helped several sites over the past few months with security problems.

People could leech off my site which could be very costly. In the past we have had problems like this.

Im sorry, and I dont mean to sound harsh, but "leeching" isnt really an acceptable excuse to implement a forced signup. Id be surprised if the affiliation is ok'd as we are trying to give an open community feel without the need to signup (forums are fine to enforce a signup, downloads arent in my book).

Find a host with better options would be my advice. Its a serious thumbs down when I see this kind of interface.
