Essentially any skin will look the same on a laptop screen as a home PC (if you have a widescreen laptop then you can use the command line options to prevent stretching). The way skins work mean they are scalable (as long as the maker takes this into consideration) so you can run them at any resolution.

Also using a different skin won't make any noticable difference to how fast the game runs.
