Default Saving Database in Editor - Quick Question Please

I load up the editor, select 7.0.2 Update database, do my editing and then go to save (not save as) but the boxes are all blank. Shouldn't it just save over the 7.0.2 update? If I rename it and create my own new database when I load up the game if I select my new database will it still be the updated version of the game with all the changes that SI made? I hope this makes sense and I'd be very grateful for some assistance.

what you have said is right, you create a new db and the patch version will stay. and all the changes from the patch will be on your created db.
