Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default What Would You Prefer: A Solid Defensive Tactic, Or A Tactic That Doesn't Stop Scoring?

well the question is as stated in title: would you rather have that tactic where you go into a season where you know you wont concede many, or that tactic which throws caution to the wind, and you know that you will score goal after goal?

personally i would prefer a solid defensive base becuase it makes me more successful, and i don't have to go through the games where you nearly have a heart attack becuase its like a basketball fixture-we score, you score

but this isn't about me, so what do you prefer?

I would always go for the solid defensive tactic because my theory is if I don't concede a goal then I won't lose the match, it will either be a draw or win. Also due to the fact me being a fan of italian football and loving my 1-0 wins.

On Arsenal after their 5-4 win at Spurs - November 2004
That was not a football score, it was a hockey score...in training I often play matches of three against three and when the score reaches 5-4 I send the players back to the dressing room, because they are not defending properly.
'nuff said. Though I dont like 1-0 either. Must be at least 2-0.

i think i'd prefer one that banged them in loads during a game as it's more entertaining.

the problem is, i find it easier to get a clean sheet rather than to score over 3 goals a game so my current tactics are very good defensively i find, although i'm not complaining.

u could score 200 goals in a season... but if you conceded 200 you wouldn't win the league...

I wouldn't say its boring as I find defending to be an art ust like attacking.

I had a solid tactic when the game first came out pre patch with my default barcelona team where in 38 league games I had 12 1-0 wins. Over the season I think my goal for ratio was about 1.3 but goal against 0.2.

When looking back over a season I just love watching all those zero's next to the opposition team name.
