Rep Power: 0 | The best settings for a big(target man)/small striker combo?
(i posted this with the wrong title before)
Anyhoo, I am wigan and have Eddie Johnson and Emile Heskey as my two rotation target men, as they are tall, strong and have good heading/jumping skills. I also have Todorov/Chamagol(sp?) as my other striker. This is a typical big/small combo, but i just wondered what settings would be good to use them effectively?
What should each of their individual setting be? and what should i set the target man supply to? (to head, to feet or run onto ball) And also should i put everyones cross aim to target man?
Any other good advice as well will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Rob.
p.s. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Personally, I'd have your target man on a mentality of around 10, with creative freedom of around 6/7. Closing down, well that depends on your team's pressing outlook as a whole. Forward runs and the like I'd have all on mixed, unless he's especially good at long shots. I'd also tick 'Hold up ball'. If he's a good passer and has decent decisions and creativity then I'd have him play through balls often.
For the runner, I'd set a slightly higher mentality so that he plays higher up the pitch and can recieve the head flicks from the target man. Furthermore, this would allow him to be in a more advanced position to be on the end of any through balls from his partner. So a mentality of perhaps 14 or 15. Forward runs would be set at often, and I'd not have him close down too often so that he's in position for the flick ons and through balls.
As for target man supply, I'd keep it at mixed unless he's quite weak at the technical aspects of the game, in which case head only.
It's all about trial and error really. Watch the games, see what happens.

thanks a lot! that really helped, although i get a bit confused as what the numbers mean on the sliders. am i right in thinking the total number on the sliders is 24, 12 being the middle?

Total value of 20 on the sliders, thus 10 is the middle.
Oh, I forgot, I'd have all of your crossers of the ball crossing to the target man. Including his strike partner.

In the tactic I use, Maddog's 442 Diamond thing, the target man has mentality at about 18 and the other striker has it at about 14-15. So the target man is actually further up the field.

Actually if you look into the bible there's already a thread on this subject where the combos are discussed...for both fast/fast..tall/short.
