Only joking mate u need to see why u lost these games its to late now since u got sacked but checking highlights from the games you lost will tell you alot of things.
Does checking highlights actually work? I always get bored with them, so tend not to look! Maybe that was a problem then!
| It well help you believe and you wont have to keep on doing it maybe look at 2-3 games and see were it all went wrong for example if you see that some goals were conceded due to your defence being to high up in pitch and getting caught out by the counter attack then drop you D line a bit specially if your scout reports back that your opponents are a constent danger to your defence may not seem like it but simple things like these do make a diffrence.

Maybe you could choose a quality team, like Sunderland for example  Congratulations on getting Newcastle relegated, just wish it could happen in real life |

Haha, i kept scrolling down just waiting for a Sunderland comment lol
Just use the default tactics mate, you easily get the Toon into european competition places using the standard 4-4-2 attacking

I know it's after the horse has already bolted, but maybe selling Owen and Emre would have been worth it? In my game (I'm only Torquay!) Owen keeps banging on about wanting to go to a bigger club, and Emre does strike me as a royal pain in the arse in real life and probably in the game too. But you'd easily get £20m for those two, then you can fill the team with quality cheap foreigners a la Harry Redknapp and Paul Jewell!
I agree with the above though - a standard 4-4-2 with a good striker and good wide midfielders, plus 2 solid holding midfielders (Parker and Butt since you've already got them?) usually does the trick. Watch the highlights to see why you're conceding goals too, maybe you're playing too far up the pitch, or too deep, or the CM's are going AWOL (change their mentality if this is the case)
Good luck next time round anyway!!

sell given, emre and owen.you will take a lot of flack, but with the money you can really strengthen what is a really weak squad.i tried this approach,it netted me somewhere in the region of 42m.harper was good enough in goal while you find a replacement (ustari 10m)i found with tactics that 4-1-3-2 worked well.good luck though as this is one team that just seems to under perform.

im in my 8th season with Newcastle. finished 4th in my first season. i got rid of owen (as soon as he was fit) duff and dyer and bought vanden borre, mancienne and delgado (possibly best player on the game) from boca added to the likes of Given, Taylor, Emre, Martins and N'Zogbia i had a half decent squad. i found that by sortin' out my set pieces and playing a quick 442 with narrow style and quite a deep back line i kept a few clean sheets. i havent changed the formation much and have got to 5 champs league finals. robbed in 3 of them tho.

Training is very important. Try and find a decent downloadable training regime, I'm sure there are some on this board.
