Hi to all. I have just played League cup 4th round. Newcastle was clearly favourite (4/7 for them). My Merthyr Tydfil has displayed a typical 4-2-3-1, with all tactics to neutral but passing and tempo both to 8. 8 players with no Long shots, 3 with medium. offensive players with creativity between 9 and 13, all defensive players lower than 9.
No cards, one lesser injury for me, no penalties.
41% of possesion for newcastle, 2 corners, 68% passes, 16 shots, 9 sot.
59% of possesion for Merthyr, 12 corners, 80% passes, 32 shots, 18 sot.
4-0 for newcastle
Newcastle was favourite and also played at home. I don't complaint about my loss, the already won me last FA cup final. Their keeper is has 14th in ratings in his team (counting players that have played at least 3 matches, team already played 17 matches) and 7th in value for newcastle but he's pretty good (japan's first choice). On the other side, I played with one of the 3 best scorers in last 3 EPLs, and AMC's and MC's are good enough to EPL but no stars.
2 first goals came from 30 meters passes finished by striker from 8 yards. 3rd goal is a 50 meters pass finished from the line of the area. And last goal is a joke (my keeper goes outside the area to kick a dangerous ball and kicks it just to the middle of the pitch. A MC shoots from there and scores into an empty keep)
My question is: how should I play in order to have less shoots but better goal ratio? I know that result is due to my tactics, but I can't find where is the problem, in first 3 goals strikers were tight marked and my keeper has 3 excentricity and very defensive tactics.
