It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Basically I'm trying to say; you can still max his defensive abilities while also improving composure

Yes I know that cleon, but I have to "waste" CA points in longshot and finishing just to keep hes composure up.
If I set shooting slider under medium, composure would be 2 or 3 after 4-5 years...

Yes but what Joor is trying to say is that you'll also improve the DC's longshots and finishing too; attributes which they will rarely use.

In the end its not ideal to have composure in with shooting for this reason but since composure is most often associated with strikers and finishing then given the tough choice as to where to put it, you can't really complain that its in the shooting category.

...and thats why composure should have been a mental attribute just like bravery and aggression.
Maybe SI will change this in FM 2009

Seeing as most DC's go forward for setpieces, I find finishing essential personally. Most decent defenders need finishing.

No matter what you do, you have to train some stats that you wont always use to get others. He asn't lost anything training composure it takes nothing away from his defensive stats. Infact you gain more as the player becomes more complete overall.

You cant train bravery and aggression..composure should be that catagory - something you are born with and only goes up and down over the year ..either by natual progression or tutoring .

Yes I think you can train composure too Cleon, just take say the SAS or Policeman (well some of them, sometimes...) etc They are trained to maintain their composure under fire or under pressure.

However, how well such training would translate to the training ground or how well composure is really trained by football clubs is a different matter. But certainly you always hear coaches telling players not to rush a shot, or rush a pass, or "just have a little look up" etc. This all would add to a player's 'composure' stat I think.
