Here's a scenario that has happened in my game 4 or 5 times already:

Lets say I have youngster who is of a less desired personality, so I pair him up with one of my senior players who is a determined personality. A few months later I get a message that the youngster gains little from the senior players due to a vast difference in personality and both players are unhappy. However, when I go to check the youngster's personality, it is now the same as the tutor's, both determined. So why do I get this message and the unhappiness? It seems to me like the tutoring worked out.

He doesn't say he didn't learn anything only little. They both can be determined yet have different personalities.

The message about "huge difference in personality" is a bug. I have already reported it in the bugs forum, although there has been no official response.

Anyway, I have done some testing on tutoring, and I 've found that this message just means that the players started disliking each other, which is partially random. I have seen cases when both players have EXACTLY the same personality attributes (DET, Ambition etc) and still dislike each other, with a "different personality" message.

As for tutoring. The personality of the youngster may or may not change irrespective of whether tutoring is lated deemed as "successful" or not. According to the game, "successful tutoring" is when the players like each other at the end, not when the personality of the youngster changed to an improved version. This is clearly wrong, but that's how it currently is.

Thanks for clearing that up. It kind of got me thinking that it might be a bug too because it made no sense since the tutoring in fact worked out well and the player has become determined like I wanted him to.
