While not strictly LLM, with the advent of CM4 and the increase in interest in online gaming, and owing to the fact that EMA is a long-running online "Official"Clan and start in the Conference, I thought that any interested LLaMas may like to give it a go.

We'll leave this running for a week to begin with to guage interest.

I don't wanna sound like a partypooper, but isn't competing against each other in conflict with LLM rules. I remember I once read a topic, that was closed due to this excuse.

Paul makes a valid point there. Player naming's banned in LLM, but not in CMO, which brings us to the updates.

If a LLaMa did decide to join the Clan couldn't a compromise be made so the LLaMa didn't have to name players in his own update if it went against his beliefs?

Although a true LLaMa would never let his knowledge of such player naming affect his LLM game anyway

How about some of the regular long standing members starting another online game? I'd be interested in joining in, and I'm sure others would be.

If there's enough interest, then some of us can discuss details?

I like Paul's idea... but four evenings a week for five hours each time is far too much for me, especially with my job.

Oh, and does only have dial up modem matter and not broadband?

Nay for me. I couldn't dedicate that amount of time, plus it is the wrong time frame for me. I can't see my boss allowing me to play during work hours.

Another reason against it IMHO would be would you trust these guys to play in the LL way? Yes they might be playing with LL sides, but how would you know if they were signing players using LLaMa ethics?

Yup, that's the main spoiler of online games. The tossers just load up their shortlists of cheap overrated icelandic strikers and buy away. I wish there were a way to enforce Scout-Before-You-Buy and the closely related SWYCT in online games, but the best way is still to only play with people you can trust.

There's no suggestion it's an LLM game, Taips. That'd have to be understood from the off.

The reasoning behind allowing an online thread in here is twofold:

1) Online gaming seems to be the way ahead for CM, according to "those in the know". EMA is a long running online Clan and they start in the Conference, which to me gives a good chance for an introduction to online gaming for LLaMas.

2) There's been a lot of talk over the years about starting an LLM Online game. For various reasons it hasn't worked, not least being the interpretation of LLM. For instance, you, me, Craig and Muss could happily join up in a game knowing that we play pretty much the same LLM way, whereas the guys that constantly question, discuss and dissect LLM guidelines to make it easier for themselves would always be looked at warily by the four of us. Look at what happened with bell's Clan. It very quickly became rather less than "pure".

As such we'd need about 20 online games with a variety of guidelines to appease the various LLM Factions.

Starting an online game knowing full well that LLM guidelines are not uppermost in the minds of other players doesn't necessarily mean that a LLaMa would have to compromise his principles, and it would be interesting to see how a LLaMa would do pitting his wits against a "normal" CMer.

That was my thinking behind it, but the decided lack of interest so far would suggest that LLaMas have a moral fibre I'd only dreamed they had

Use the force, Luke. This would make a great update - the lone righteous LLMer against an army of cheaters
