Thats what the club does (well, except the promotion part). You personally are shown the door and the blunt end of one of your chairman's expensive leather boots. Which he will consequently then have to sale in order to bring some cash into the club you just ruined.

I've unfortunately been able to take my Hayes side from Division 3 to the Conference. Further embarrasment caused by finishing just behind free scoring local rivals Slough. They managed four goals all season.

Only previous time I managed that route into the Conference was thanks to a close faught battle getting knocked off the rails with an 11-2 defeat at Lincoln.

I issued the nice Billericay chairman an ultimatum to build up the ground when I reached the Premier League. He didn't build it up then, but he did overlook my ultimatum "this once" (how nice). Three weeks later he put an extra 1500 seats in the place.

The best ive done is take Leigh RMI into Division 3 via the playoffs and win the FA Trophy in the same season. Havent managed to get anyone in to the dizzy heights of the premiership

Ive never got Leigh out of the Conference...six seasons of hovering around 18th before getting relegated

That has been my experience. Only once has my board responded to an ultimatum directly (I issue a few ) but often they do it indirectly after scolding you for being so brash.
