Default Scouting Issue - What about big competitions??

I wouldn't scout the European Championships unless I'm at least in Division 2. In lower divisions I stick to the UK (assuming I'm playing in England of course).

From a purely LLM point of view...

...yes, anyone can watch the World Cup or Copa America on satellite telly, but here's where realism sets in.

Can you honestly imagine the Morecambe Manager sitting with a bag of Doritos and a can of Vanilla Coke, watching the World Cup semi-final, suddenly saying "you know, I'm gonna put in a bid for that left back. I'm sure I can sell Morecambe to him"

Nah.

As long as the tournament is held in a country that is located in your scouting area, what's the problem?

As for signing anyone, that depends on the player and your club really. If the World Cup was held in England and I spotted a Lithuanian striker who I think might come to me, why wouldn't I stick a bid in?

Like someone said above though, I would wait until my club had a decent reputation before even bothering to scout major competitions.

I tend to agree with that. I'm willing to scout a major tournament, but only if it's being hosted somewhere that falls under the SWYCT rule.

I'd say it *is* possible, if unlikely, that an LL team could sign an international player. Thinking here of a real-life example of a Canadian international playing for Plymouth Argyle.

Yeah, but the subject line says "big competitions," Jason, so that would rule out Canadians.
