It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

This tactic will not be available for download, however for those who wish to use it I will list all the instructions. So you can make it yourself.

This tactic is also far from finished yet as I am only half way through season one. However my results have been superb with Sheff Utd and I am currently top and looking really comfortable.

The idea was I created a tactic that conceded few, that way if I scored I knew I would be able to hang onto a lead. If I keep the ball out of the net I knew I was able to snacth maybe 1 goal a game.

So I came up with this formation Link

So the first thing I needed to do, was to bring in a few new faces to be able to play this system. So I brought in a striker, a keeper, 2 AMC's and a defender. Because I brought in so many new faces I expected to struggle for first 6 months due to the players adapting and needing to 'gel' with their teammates.

Here are the instructions;

Team Instructions

Player Instructions

Goalkeeper
Fullbacks
Centrebacks
Defensive Midfielder
Wingers
Attacking Midfielders
Striker

My players are still blending it says, however I am still performing above expectations. Here is the table;

League Table

For difficult away games I change the teams mentality to 6 defensive, I find this helps against stronger teams as I sit back and hit them on the break. I may also play a bit narrower than normal too, but this is rare.

For difficult homegames against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal etc I also use the above.

However, if I play a team I should win at home, I will play a slow tempo and shorter passing game. I do this to keep possession and stop the opposition getting the ball. I use this against teams like Watford, Villa, Spurs etc. As I expect to beat team like this, or atleast get a result.

My defensive record should actually be better than it is, but I let in 2 goals to Spurs when I shouldn't have, but defensive errors cost me. I also let 3 in away to Villa after having injuries and players sent off. I have kept 12 clean sheets so far.

I can't wait til the end of season so I can bring a few quality players in. I can be more adverntoreus and attacking then, but as it currently stands. I simply do not have the players to take the game to teams.

Aye, its still the first season atm. Can't wait for the 2nd though as I feel this tactic as potential.

My striker is pretty prolific too scoring 25 in 22 games.

I notice that nobody is on a mentality of attacking, yet you're scoring a fair few goals. That's quite interesting.

I have a question for you, what are your players average ratings like?

Looking at the formation, I can see why it's quite solid, you've got all the zones covered one way or another, so I guess this makes it tougher for the opposition to break you down?

The barrows on the fullbacks, was this a ploy to play against the 4-3-3 to prevent the wingers getting in behind them, or was there another reason for it?

Well you don't need to play attacking football to score, plus I use counter attack anyways. I score quite a few because my team plays as a unit. So when we break we move as 1 and defend as 1 should we loose possession.

I am hard to break down yes, the AI has a fair few shots still, however most are from 30 yards out and no real bother for me.

Its something I think Buxton mentioned somewhere or Rashidi. So I tried it out and it keeps the fullbacks in poistion exactly where I need them to be.

Those are great results.

Are you scoring most of your goals on the counterattack?
Because most teams probably feel they can get a result against your team and will therefore play quite attacking.
With the re-ranking I've been reading about; I'm very interested if you can keep these good results coming once the other teams start defending more.

Are you playing with the vanilla match engine?

Most of my goals aren't from counterattacks funnily enough, although some are most arent. I want teams to defend more against me, I feel I can up my goal ratio then as I can go attacking for a change
