Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Feedback Requested on Tactic Plans

Afternoon all,

A slow afternoon at work (a limey living in the US here, so still another 3 hours to go until the weekend!),

and I am looking at putting together my own tactic. I am a long time reader (and tactic downloader) of this forum, and after taking on board a lot of information I want to begin putting my own tactic together from scratch.

Background. My team will be a middle of the road Conference National team, so player quality has been established

As stated, I am at work currently, so I cannot begin to put this together, and start my tweaking process to fit the players, but I would very much like any feedback on the generalities of how it looks.

The formation I am looking at is a 4-4-2 diamond, with the usualy DL,DC,DC,DR back four, with a DMC,ML,MR,AMC midfield and 2 FCs up top.

The only arrows on the formation are back arrows for the DR, DL and AMC. My reasoning here is I want my back four to defend, and not to push up and get caught out. The AMC back arrow is to bring him back into a

more center of the park position when we lose possession.

Instructions.
(Anything not specifically mentioned is left as default)

Passing & Tempo = 8
Defensive Line & Width = 6
Counter attacking on

Mentalities
TEAM = 10 or 11
DR,DL = 6
DC = 5 & 6
DMC = 7
ML&MR = 9 & 10
AMC = 10
FC = 9 (speedy) & 10 (target man)
Intentionally low, to try and create a more cohesive unit.

Closing Down
DR,DL = 10
DC = 7 & 8
DMC = 15
MR,MR = 12
AMC = 13
FC = 11 (target man) & 14 (speedy)

DR,DL - Run with ball & Forward runs are rarely, Cross Ball is often and to target man from deep
DC - Run with ball, forward runs, cross ball and try through balls all at rarely
DMC - Try through ball is often, run with ball and forward runs are rarely
ML,MR - Run with ball is often, Cross Ball is often and to target man from byline, Try Through Ball is rarely
AMC - Try Through Ball & Forward Runs are often
FC (Target Man) - Hold Up Ball is on and Try Through Balls is often
FC (Fast) - RUn With Ball is often

A slight alternative I would like to try if I can find the right AMC/FC is to play my target man in the AMC slot, and go with 2 fast FCs ahead of him.

As mentioned, any feedback is very welcome, and I look forward to trying to put this together over the weekend.
