Well, i have spent some time in the forums here, trying to go through the basics of targetmen and playmakers and so on..Well i have selected a MC, and two strikers as Targetmen. their all quite bad in the air, so i dont want to see high passes given to them, but when i check the stats after the match, i can see that a lot of high balls are coming to my right forward Roberts (like 20 headers, 4 won). Especially the GK is giving long balls ahead (stats 25 passes 12 cmp), im losing a lot of possession this way. I dont understand, i have tried everything on the GK player instructions: short passing, distribution -quick throw, defender collect, but he just keeps playing these long and high balls, that just kills the game for me. OK, i understand if i tick "use targetman" at team instr. ,then i would have this problem, but its not ticked, i just have those 3 players i mentioned before in the targetman list. What i have heard, targetmen bring other players on to play with quick passes?! This sound good to me, but not long passes to these players who can barely jump and attempt headers.
Can someone enlighten me please, cause i think i have misunderstood something..Or this concerns a patch or something?
Thank you..
Well if I change it to on foot or run on to the ball, it will take effect only if i tick "use targetman" in team instructions? And i dont want to tick it (my team play would be so similar game to game), i just want those 3 players to act as targetmen when they have the ball.
One thing still bugs me, my goalie still shows me with these long kicks, even though i have changed everything in his player instr. to short distribution. Thx in advance
If you havent ticked " use targetman " in your team instructions then you are in fact not playing with a target man and all other instructions are void. 3 is probably too many anyway so try it with only one of your strikers, and set the instructions to feet and see how they get on. The ability of the players to get instructions right however is dependant on their attributes, so if you are playing a lower league team, they will get instructions wrong a lot.
Ok, i have read in the forums that, if i select targetmen, but dont tick"use targetman" then team as a whole wont use the targetman, but if the targetman has the ball, he will act as a targetman. Ok thx ill try giving the targetman job to only one of the strikers.

Right now im playing with one targetman and with "use target man" on team instructions, results are better, but still the Gk is giving long balls to my midfielders, who lose over 70 percent of the headers they challenge into. The Gk for some reason doesnt follow my instructions.
