It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default What sort of % passes completed etc. should be expected if a team is playing well?

Has anyone any ideas of what constitutes acceptable-and-up levels of pass completion, tackling etc. if a tactic is working well with a team?

I ask because I am using a 442 diamond midfield tactic with Parma (almost no squad changes) and some numbers seem low.

e.g. Parma's starting back four are all fairly bad passers (10-12) so I have them set on Direct, the midfield are all good passers (14-18) so I have them on mixed/short. The forwards pass short as they should be close together most of the time.

But pass completion at the end of the match is rarely above 60% and is usually 52-55% This seems low for what are supposed to be professional footballers

Crosses completed can be anywhere from 10-30% Now I imagine 30% is a reasonable rate as many crosses don't get completed in a real football match but should I be expecting more as I concentrate passing down both flanks and my two first choice wingers have crossing of 19 & 18?

depends on what style of play you use.

Short slow tempo football will mean your passing will be more accurate ect wgereas long direct quick football will mean passing is less accurate.

I don't think there is a general rule on pass completion.

Pass completion depends very much on your tempo.

In general Low tempo = Better pass completion, less chances, but better shots on target percentage.

It also depends on mentality: If your players have very different mentality they won't have to many passing options other than direct, and completion will suffer.

IMO (and it is oppinion based cause it depends on so many factors) if you play direct and on the counter, pass completion as low as 65% is acceptable. If you play normal mentality 70% is acceptable. If you want to dominate a game 75% is acceptable.

Tackling percentage: IMO It is almost impossible to say something meaningfull here. For example you might win 80% of your tackles and still lose heavily. This happens when you are under heavy pressure and your defenders (who are good tacklers) make and win a lot of tackles. And a low tackling percentage could simply be down to your strikers doing the majority of the tackles because the ball is mainly in your opponents half.

Cross completion: If you play with wingers do not expect completion above 30%. The only way to get better percentage is not to play with wingers. IMO wingers are the only flaw left in the current engine. They do not work quite as well as they ought to. In general a deep cross from a FB is usually much more efficient than a byline cross from a winger.

A mixture of what both the posters say above really. It depends on the passing style and tempo of the game.

I tend to have the following

FBs passes are around 50-60
DCs passes 20-30
Amc - passes - 20
Dmc - passes - 60
wingers - passes - 10-20
Stikers passes - 0-15

% crosses usually from 20-50%

I play short and slow, building from the back - the more direct your play, the less completed passes you make.

To increase ur crosses focus ur passing down the flanks - unsettle an opponents full back a few days before a game and then focus ur passing down that specific flank, doubling up with full back and winger - instruct ur striker to cross ball often and that fb will have to deal with 3 players!! - in the commentary u will see "he looks nervous"

I do this to great effect and that fb usually gets a rating of 4-6/10
