After I bought this game I decided to play around with this a little simply because it was a new toy. Now I touch them not, simply because I have had success without, and because I have no idea what they do. I know WHAT they should do, but as for putting it into practice, it seems that the opposition instructions are in constant conflict with player instructions. Just when we are getting somewhere with the tactics, SI throw in a dilution of ambiguity. Okay, so I can succeed without them, but I am sure that if I could implement them correctly, my team's potential would be maximized.
Let me use an example to ask my question:
You play a 4-5-1 defensive formation against Newcastle and you decide that Damien Duff is your main threat. You want him closed down always, but you don't want your team to press since your formation is based on soaking up the play. So, your whole team is on close down rarely, and Duff is set to close down often. What does this mean? I would guess that anyone that's near him will close him down. would your winger and full back 'double up'? How about man marking always? Does this mean that if an opponent lands in a 'zone' of one of your player's that he will be man marked? If this is the case, then opposition instructions must ALWAYS override individual instructions. I play on full match mode now so I am looking forward to playing around with this, but if anyone has observed anything in the meantime please let me know.
Cheers.

| The player nearest to him at all times would close him down. Sometimes you might get players double up, but its not something I have noticed frequently. So your players don't get dragged about too much, like you'd think. They also only close him down until he goes closer to someone else, then they back off and the other player takes over. Quote: |

| It does aye, but it would only overwrite them for that particular player at that particular point.

Cheers fella.
I've just started to really get in to the full match engine. It's really quite phenomenal. I'm looking forward to trying these opp. instructions out in full match. I am sure that these come in to play throughout the whole game rather than just the odd highlight, which is why I probably never noticed the effects much.
Quick question:
Hmmm, how do I word this? Imagine you are watching the game in full match mode. You hit start and make NO changes. You see a goal in the 38th minute. 1-0. Now, go back in time and imagine you were watching the game in highlights mode. You hit start and make NO changes. Would that goal in the 38th minute still take place? Would that game run out exactly the same whether you are playing full match mode or not, providing of course you make no changes? The reason I ask is this: I have been playing full match mode and I am happy with my formation. I don't know whether it's a placebo effect or whether I am more actively dynamic with regards to tactical changes, but it seems I can never lose when I play in full match mood. The same can not be said for highlight mode. Any thoughts mate?

| Yes the game is the same regardless of how you watch it.
