This is the first tactic I've created that I've had success using. The main aim was to create a tactic I could use home and away without tweaking. It's worked well for me, so thought I would share.
I have trialled this with Weston-super-Mare in the Blue Square South and Premier, Bristol Rovers in the Championship and Valencia in Primer Ligue.
All three have shown good results. There is an average of three goals a game, but also concede about one a game, although with Valencia, having quality defenders, this is slightly lower.
At Weston, I linked with Bristol City as a parent club, so loaned aome reasonable players, although mostly under 18 players, so not terrific quality.
The main quality of this tactic is playing through the middle of the park. The width is provided by the fullbacks but mainly by the strikers running the channels. This pulls the the opposing centre backs out of position and results in your attacking midfielders picking up possession and running straight down the middle through the gap created by their centre backs running wide with your forwards.
CFs are set as targetmen with balls played to run onto. If these start to get swept up, change as play to feet.
Closing down is low throughout, although the DMs have a little bit more. I've staggered the DM slightly now, but does work with them as same instructions.
The qualities positions are:
GK: good throwing is helpful, as well as usual keeping stats.
FB: Need pace/acc and stamina/workrate. Are set up more for interceptions, so tackling not terrfically important. Positioning helps.
CB: Look for pace/acc, positoning. Jumping/heading useful.
DM: usual stats, workrate, tackling, stamina, positioning. Passing and decisions are key as much of the play goes through them.
AM: Need pace/acc, dribbling quite useful, as is off the ball and finishing. They get a number of one on ones, so composure can help.
CF: require pace/acc and of the ball. Finishing/composure useful and workrate.
I look for workrate and teamwork in all my players, as this results in the team keeping a better shape.
You should find strikers and attacking midfielders getting around a goal a game.
My passing stats were 60% ish for Weston raising to 80% for Valenica due to the better distribution from the GK.
This is a narrow tactic, so try narrowing your pitch.
Tempo, passing and mentality are mixed.
Creative Freedom is low, as shape is important.
Time wasting is low, cos I hate it!
Defensive line is deepish, as two defensive midfielders cover the gaps between defence and midfield.
Counter attacking is ticked, as the pace of the front four can be devastating on the break.
Using the DMs as playmakers is also worth atry if things are going badly.
Also, having a fast striker on the bench as fresh legs can have a big impact around 55 mins.
The one drawback can be leaking of goals, tend not to have too many clean sheets, but erhaps someone can tweak this to help.
I hope this is enough information. Anyway, give it a go. Download below.
