Well seeing as I seem to be in a good mood and have a bit more time on my hand for tactic creating lately I decided to play a bit with the game and I made what seem to be my best FM08 tactic so far (and there's been a bunch of them).
I was trying to modiffy my 4-3-2-1 tac that worked like a charm. So I first tried just to pull one of the MC's
to DMC position but that didnt make any big difference seeing as one MC was allways operating as a DMC.
Next I pulled my most offensive MC to AMC position but that was just waz too offensive i was leaking goals from the middle too easy.....started to get really anoyed with the lack of progress and decided to go for things that dont really go IRL but could be something that FMs AI and engine would "allow".
Came up with something like 4-3-3 or 2-3-2-2-1 or 5-3-2 or 5-4-1….hope you see where I am going with this…..its really hard to put this one in a specific category.
I created it with the basic football rules in mind….tried to create least complicated tactic without going too much into details (like I always do) and picture it on the field IRL and found out that it wasn’t all that different from real thing. I mean you have your 5 defensive oriented players and 5 offensive players.
Tried to give every player two or three passing options (triangle) for this to work with fast and short passing and I think that I doesn’t get any better than this….of course if there were 12 players on the pitch than by putting one more AMC you would get the perfect setup.
So to get to the point.....as allwayz I am gonig to divide this in three parts:
DEFFENCE
This time this is the key here. Although there are just two players positioned on defence you are really defending with 5 players, but at the same time you will benefit from those 3 players positioned above your CBs as they will often participate in offensive plays. I usually dont get good ratings on mz wingbacks but nevertheless by watching match you can see that they really make a difference.
MIDDFIELD
Dont expect from the DMC to bang them in or get a star ratings coy he is here mostly to strenghten your defence and connect CBs with MCs.
The left MC is the playmaker and most passes should come from him while the right MC is more offensive one with FWR and he should get a nice amount of goals.
ATTACK
Not much to say here. The only SC and one or both AMs I have put on target man list with RUN ONTO BALL (latelly I am finding this to be a game winner if you have fast strikers on any tactic) but without the target man option checked.
Ofcourse you can allways set the team instructions different to suit your stile of play.
Here are my positionings that I only sometimes use depending on the result later in the game....
