I'm in October season 2 and Khalid Boulahrouz (sp) from chelski has just been released on a free half way through his contract, there are 42 clubs interested in him.

I'm at newcastle and i've offerd him a contract as a squad player, is he any good, his stats look ok.

Anyone seen any other players released like this or a player with more clubs interested in him than 42

Yeah he's a pretty good player. Being Newcastle, he'd be a more than useful squad player. Doubt he'll want to join you though as they'll be many others who'll offer him first team football.

As for players being released, I've seen it happen a few times. 2 were particularly surprising. First was Owen Hargreaves who was released by Man Utd because they were in financial trouble. This was pre-patch where there was a bug in the game though. He got released and although I dont remember how many teams wanted him, there were quite a lot. Went to Madrid eventually iirc. And the other surprising one, and this happened post-patch, was Zlatan Ibrahimovic being released by Inter. I thought that was particularly stupid and unrealistic. I was so tempted to sign him but finally common sense prevailed. I'd saved the game just a game or so earlier and restarted it. Zlatan disliked Mancini and a couple more players and I put them all to like each other at 100. Thought Inter would have to be really stupid to part with arguably the best striker in the world atm for nothing. If anything, they would have sold him for some money. But yeah, that was really silly.

Boulahrouz will make a good squad rotation player. He's not best defender out there but for free why not.
Sign him to play for you but don't go over board with the wages keep it in context with what you are paying your current defenders (Taylor etc). Then perhaps pawn him off for a little money in a season's time.

Its not uncommon for teams to end player contracts by mutual termination. I've seen it happen many times but not usually to world class players like Hulk has been describing.

Id sign him definately for newcastle, and if anything you could sell him straight on to get abit of money in. i havent seen big name players released but players like kewell i have.

it does happen a bit irl to world stars as well but usually ageing ones like figo and rivaldo, vieri
