As a part of my scouting, I always go to some big PL club reserve team (including scout your borders) and check if players are listed and I go to the club transfer page and look if any player have been released. Then I assign a scout or ask a player for a trial.

Is this within the boundaries of LLM scouting?

Hmm. It's not your scouts who have found the lads, it's yourself. Only afterwards, you send the scouts in order to get the 'LLM seal of uncheatedness' attached.

On the darker side of gray, I think.

i diasgree. As long as you are "looking" yourself, i.e looking at the club screen to see who has been released, then scouting or trialing them, what's unrealistic?

I do this quite often. I think it's fairly common knowledge when certain youngsters have expiring contracts at big clubs, so I'll send my scout to look at a few early on in the season.

Usually they will only sign for me when they've been released, so I have to wait until summer, but I don't see a problem.

I think this is fine. In real life a manager would be made aware of these players - agents would be pushing them, asking for trials, etc.
This is not represented in CM, so I think this is a good way of compensating.

I don't see a problem as long as he's not looking for known players, though I am somewhat dubious about looking at the team's transfer page. Whilst a manager of a club would have information on who is transfer listed readily available to him, he would not have the same information regarding transfers, barring very recent ones.
He could research it of course, but that would use up considerable time.

I do exactly the same thing - 6 months before the season end I'll go to every big clubs seeing which youngsters contracts are expiring in the summer... I'll then wait 'til they're released as I can't afford the compensation and start the bidding war (they'll have already been scouted for 6 months at that point) ...

hmmm...how is this not cheating again? How do managers know who is having his contract finishing if not through their scouts?

This is not sarcasm. This is a question.
