Right, the previous bug is well documented, but this I just don't get...
I'm in my second season with Leigh RMI. The ground size nor facilities have changed in that time.
In the whole of the first season I paid a total of £54,361. Couple this with keeping below my wage budget, and I made a nice profit for the season and if I could continue that, I would have a fair amount of money to play with for strengthening my squad a couple of years down the line.
Into season 2 and by 25th October I've already paid £90,938 and now we're losing money as if it's confetti being thrown at a wedding. I am spending more on wages too, but am still significantly below my wage budget.
Fortunately, an FA Cup run which end with defeat at Premier League club Preston has given me enough money to cover the extra ground maintenence.
Has anyone else had such a dramatic increase? Is this normal or am I right in being totally peeved off with it? I'd understand if my ground had been made twice the size...
The only other factor is that attendences have gone up, but only by around 100 on average.
What has changed from last year Nobby? Maybe it is to do with your FA cup run. More big games at home causing bigger crowds, causing bigger maintenance expendature?
I had a look at my game, and I'm about 1/2 of last years expendature in Feburary so I'm on track to have roughly the same amount (playing in Turkey)
The only thing i can think of is that with it being the first season, you don't have to pay a big chunk of money at the start of the season for your ground like you do in the second season.
A bit like the TV money. In your first season of CM you do not get it, perhaps it is the same for ground maintenance costs?
Swansea in the FA Cup 2nd Round (Swansea now in Division 2) and Hertha Berlin played me in a friendly as part of their English tour, which I got a near full house for.
Even so, it wasn't far off double before the FA Cup even started.
What bugs me is that i'm playing the czech rep. i've had a ground capacity of 18000 sine the game started and my average attendance is about 2500.
Ground maintenence is costing me over 100K per year. If I had a smaller ground this could be over half what it is and I wouldn't be sooooo much in debt.
I guess it's just one of the many pitfall of playing with clubs yo-yoing in and out of bigger leagues.
It's not as if the club I'm at were big at one time 2nd in div2 in 2000. It looks like the board had a bit of cash to spare and went a bit made on the ground improvments.
Were you promoted, Nobby? If not, in an average month (no unusual home games) if you pull out the figure does it average out to the lower amount? That might be a way of seeing whether that FA Cup and pre-season match had any specific impact.
Oddly enough, I'm playing Division One now with Kettering and haven't noticed any giant increase in GM between D1, D2 or D3 (the conference was lower). There is a nominal increase I assume due to a greater need for security and the fact that I now sell out all 6100 tickets for every home match.
The average was around 20-25k a month in season 2, where it was under 55k for the entire first season.
Also annoying is I'm just about to start my third season and I've still not been given any new under 19s players. Don't Leigh have a youth set up??!!

Just be thankful you have a smallish stadium. At my current club Uberlandia, I've got a 72000 capacity stadium which last season cost me close enough to £400,000 in ground maintainence. After 2 months of my current season it's cost me almost £90,000, but luckily I just pulled in a record crowd which has paid for this season's maintainence so far fingers crossed. Would be nice if I could ask the board to decrease the stadium size
