Another idea for future editions of CM that would help LLMs: the ability to voluntarily switch FA Cup ties from a home to an away game.

Playing as a Conference team, I found myself with the good fortune to have a 3rd round tie against a huge Premiership club but was forced to play it at my 8,000 capacity stadium. IRL this game would have been switched and played at the huge 50,000 seater Premiership stadium and I would have solved my money troubles for the next few seasons. As it was I had to try, unsuccessfully, to force a replay. I have a friend who got $350,000 in gate receipts from a similar cup game played at the Premiership home ground. I could frankly do with that sort of money

I suggested this before and it didn't get a very good response.

quote:
No need for changing them, or why have a draw in the first place? Why not just set up who's playing who and where.

Its not really the same thing.

There's a huge difference between allowing a small club to switch a home game (i.e pass up their advantage) to reap financial rewards. Particularly given the inhospitable financial climate that most LLM endure IRL, and fixing a draw from the offset. They're not even close.

I've had somewhat of a lucky year with RMI so far, I drew Leeds at Elland Road in the League Cup and got about £250,000. In the FA Cup I drew Man Utd but the game is being played at lil' old Hilton Park

I would be more than happy to switch to Old Trafford should there be an option

For obvious reasons, you would choose risk it at Old Trafford rather than push one Al Great Mighty at home and go on to the next round.

That's pretty much ALL money and NO FA Cup spirit.

I just had 2 pay days in 2018.

With Croydon (whose debt I brought down to £1.8Million), I won an amazing tie that left the Sunderland fans shellshocked (44000 saw the match at the Stadium of Light).

I was rewarded with another away tie to Manchester City. I lost 2-0

I checked my finances and the debt was halved

A Morecambe payday. 500 grand away to Sunderland. Lost a shot at Wrexham next game, but oh well, couldn't get 2 in a row...

Does this 'FA Cup Spirit' you talk of have any monetary value? Do I get anything out of it? The most frustrating thing about it was that I lost the game 0-1, to a penalty The attendance was 8 less than capacity, who were the 8 idiots who didn't turn up?

But you won't get a reply because everybody's playing at your place...

...Oh nevermind. It was funny in my head.
